We are working with a unique institution that blends education, heritage, hospitality, and commercial ventures to find an Interim Head of Finance as they enter an exciting phase of growth and transformation. This role offers a rare chance to influence at an executive level, while embedding robust financial leadership and governance and shaping the financial landscape across a one-of-a-kind site.

  • Competitive Salary: Earn up to 60K pro rata

As Interim Head of Finance you will be a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing financial strategy, planning, risk management, and reporting. Reporting directly to the Director of the Estate, you will provide high-level financial guidance, analysis, and oversight, ensuring that financial operations are efficient, transparent, and aligned with the objectives of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic recommendations based on financial analysis and projections.
  • Oversee all financial operations including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, tax, and treasury.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory law, charity commission requirements, financial regulations, and reporting standards.
  • Lead financial planning and analysis to support long-term business goals.
  • Develop and maintain project profitability and job costing reporting systems.
  • Manage risk, including financial, legal, and operational, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Lead and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Someone with:

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified accountant with at least 3 years post-qualification experience.
  • Proven experience in leading a finance team.
  • Experience within a Charity at Finance Manager level is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Solid understanding of charity and fund accounting (including SORP) is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of VAT regulations, including partial exemption, and payroll tax compliance.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with financial software (e.g. SAGE)
  • High level of responsibility and accountability.
  • The ability to manage a heavy workload efficiently and remain calm under pressure.
  • Discretion and professionalism with a strong commitment to stakeholder service.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development for self and team.
