Happy spring! Now that we are officially in a new season, let’s talk about new beginnings. In particular: starting a new job.

Sometimes it feels like starting over, and the frustration can be overwhelming.

In life, it takes new beginnings to bring about personal and professional growth. New beginnings put you behind the wheel. They also put you in charge of your time, and where you focus your energy, how you harness and use your skill set.

Whether you chose a new path, or change was forced upon you, this is how to gain control and move forward with confidence:

  1. Apply your transferable skills to areas of growth. No matter where your career takes you or where you take your career, the transferable skills you develop will always be there for you, helping you adapt, change, and grow professionally.
  2. Know your audience, and market yourself accordingly. Recognise who you are being interviewed by. Do your best to persuade the interviewer of your worth and the value you could potentially bring to their company.
  3. Write down your goals and work backwards from them. Small, achievable goals will protect you from being overwhelmed by the big picture, while also giving you a sense of accomplishment. That’s a great energy to carry forward and apply to all areas of your life!

Finding fulfilling work, can have a positive impact on your physical and mental health, your relationships, and even your self-esteem. Rather than being limited, to what you think you can do based on your skills, look at what you’re naturally drawn to, in and out of work.

Don’t be afraid of new beginnings. Don’t shy away from new people, new energy, new surroundings and embrace the new changes in your life. What have your new beginnings been like? Let us know in the comments!
